Senior Research Technician
I recently joined the department as a BHF funded Senior Research Technician supporting the Riley group. My responsibilities include:
- Establishing and providing surgical animal models for the study of cardiovascular disease and regeneration
- Training other members of CRM in surgical techniques
- Post-operative care of animals and sample processing
- Colony management
- Contribution to on-going research projects within the CRM
I previously completed a BSc in Biochemistry and an MSc in Toxicology, before specialising in cardiovascular biology with an MRes in Cardiovascular Health and Disease and a PhD in Cardiovascular Science. My previous research involved investigating the paracrine pathways between cardiomyocytes and cardiac fibroblasts, and the role of the PMCA4 protein in the development of pathological hypertrophy.
