I recently joined the department as a BHF funded Senior Research Technician supporting the Riley group. My responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and providing surgical animal models for the study of cardiovascular disease and regeneration
  • Training other members of CRM in surgical techniques
  • Post-operative care of animals and sample processing
  • Colony management
  • Contribution to on-going research projects within the CRM

I previously completed a BSc in Biochemistry and an MSc in Toxicology, before specialising in cardiovascular biology with an MRes in Cardiovascular Health and Disease and a PhD in Cardiovascular Science. My previous research involved investigating the paracrine pathways between cardiomyocytes and cardiac fibroblasts, and the role of the PMCA4 protein in the development of pathological hypertrophy.
