This paper examines legal frameworks and ongoing debates concerning research with human stem cell–based embryo models (SCBEMs) in China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan. Given their great potential for research and their ethical implications, insights from these legislations could help to clarify and formulate global consensus on the regulation of SCBEM research.
