Pressure-volume catheter system (human)
- CD Leycomm Inca® (IntraCardiac Analyzer)
- Integrated, stand-alone system for the acquisition, display and analysis of intra-ventricular pressure and volume (by conductance) data in humans.
- Real-time monitoring of cardiac function and performance can be quantified and analysed through measuring the pressure changes in the left ventricle and its related volume which can be used to obtain pressure-volume loops over multiple cardiac cycles.
- The measurements are obtained using a conductance catheter technique where electrical conductance measurements are made between ring electrodes on a cardiac catheter located in the left ventricle and its tip in the apex. This can be seen in the diagram above. Separated into seven sections, seven independent cross-sectional volume measurements can be made so that a total chamber volume can be calculated by the software.
