Hyperpolarized magnetic resonance imaging (HP-MRI) is a new technology that allows the generation of contrast agents, which improve the sensitivity of MRI by more than 10,000-fold. This award has enabled the development of a pharmacy facility to generate these contrast agents in a sterile manor that makes them suitable for human studies. Thus, new approaches can be developed to study human heart disease.
